Did You Know?
We know about the big things that the city is known for, like great beaches, surfing and the amazing selection of craft beer, but did you know these fun facts about “Americas Finest City”?
When you’re landing in San Diego, look out of the window. You will notice there is only one runway. San Diego International Airport is the busiest one-runway airport in the country, and the second busiest in the world!
Speaking of flying, you already know that Charles Lindbergh was the first person to fly from New York to Paris non-stop. But did you know his plane was built in San Diego? He was so pleased with the aircraft, he lent his name to Lindbergh Field, now known as San Diego International Airport.
Once you get off the plane, you will surely notice the wonderful weather. The average temperature in San Diego is 70 degrees all year long. While the weather might be dreamy, the traffic isn’t. Motorists spend an average of 256 hours a year sitting in their car. That won’t affect us, however – everything you need, including shopping, dining, and sightseeing, can be found within a short walk of the Hilton Bayfront.
